Several figures in the government have voiced their solutions starting from the Deputy President saying that students need to be mentored and counseled regarding alternative methods of solving problems.

Ministry officials have also began meetings on how to curb this bad spirit arson.

To be very sincere, the education sector in Kenya since the end of last year has been plagued with ills ranging from KCSE leakage, teachers' strike in January leading to closure of schools for long periods and the student unrest.

In Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua wants parents, the clergy and schools administration to come together in a bid to restore public schools as centers for mentorship and nurturing of children in the country.

"Only guiding and counseling programs in schools would be invaluable in mentoring behavior and judgment of young learners in helping them to make informed and universally beneficial decisions in life," he said.

"I appeal to the church to lead spiritual transformation programs among pupils and students in schools. Incidents of arson and unrest among schools are borne out of cases of impaired judgment," he added.

Nakuru County is among areas in the country that is hard hit by the devastating wave of school fires that has led to a near paralysis of learning in four top high schools.

A late evening fire gutted a dormitory at Nakuru High School early this year and another fire razed dormitories at Kirobon Girls and Shinners Boys High schools.
