Students protest following murder of their colleague

Students from the Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) in Eldoret town on Monday staged a demonstration following the killing of their colleague on Saturday.The students accused security personal in the area for failing to conduct patrols especially at night so as to help beef up security.Following the protests, transport along the busy Eldoret - Nakuru highway was paralyzed as the students blocked the road.Police officers were forced to lobe teargas canisters at the rowdy students as they also put off the fires that had been lit on the road in a bid to clear the busy highway.The body of the student was found dumped along river Sosiani, near Sugunanga estate on Saturday.According to Eldoret East OCPD Rashid Omanga, the student's body had deep cuts an indication that he might have been attacked by a panga.Police have already arrested one suspect linked to the murder and is expected to be arraigned in court.
