During a workshop held on Wednesday at the Technical University of Mombasa, (TUM), Dr Jennifer Othigo, a gynaecologist, said the youth in higher learning institutions should be in forefront in helping girls abused in the society.

Dr. Othigo said if the victims of violence are not helped they end up sinking into depression.

"It is you listening to me here at TUM who can help stop this violence to our girls and mothers out there. We need to give them (victims) our support so that they are able to overcome the violence. Without our help they end up sinking into depression, which is hard to escape," she said.
