Students at Moi University Eldoret have resorted to drinking as the strike called by lecturers from public universities goes on.
Moi university students council secretary Moses Tisa said on Friday that majority if the students still at the institution have resorted to excess drinking as they are idle.
"I am challenging the cabinet secretary for education Amina Mohamed to visit the university and see for herself what is going on," Tisa said as he spoke to journalists at the institution.
"We know she studied outside the country, but that does not mean she should ignore our plight."
Last month, the students threatened to join their lecturers in the strike if the Education ministry does not intervene and solve the problem.
Tisa also last month reported that most students at the university had resorted to sex because of idleness.
Tisa spoke flanked by the university's students chairman Isaac Choge who called for the sacking of CS Amina for what he termed failure to play her part in resolving the ongoing strike that has paralyzed teaching in all public universities in the country.
"We are calling on President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack her with immediate effect since she has failed in her mandate. She will bring more harm than good to the education sector," Choge said.
