Kisii University students have called upon the school and county government to heighten security as the semesters nears an end.
They claimed insecurity always at its peak as the semester comes to an end as the perpetrators want to make a kill before the students go home and at the same time they believe they have money send to them as fare back home by their parents.
They now want the school administration and the county government to work together to address the issue of insecurity.
“It is now very risky as the semester comes to an end. These thieves gang up against students and steal items such as phones, laptops and money. We want security beefed up,” said John Maingi a student.
“We want the school administration to improve security in the school and its environs," said Jeremiah Kemei.
"A number of comrades have suffered at the hands of these thieves with the latest case taking place two weeks ago when a comrade was beaten up and his laptop stolen in his room,” he added.
They want the school's administration to take the issue with urgency as most of them visit the library till late night to study for the exams which leave them vulnerable to exploitation by robbers.
