According to the latest report on gender violence by National Center for Research and Crime Machakos county has been mentioned as being among the counties in which gender violence is most rampant.
According to the report 38 per cent of women and 20.9 percent of men in the country have experienced gender violence in their life time. It also indicated that the trend had been changing with more men being victims in the past one year.
According to the report 48 per cent of men and 37.7 per cent of women have experienced gender based violence in the last twelve months.
Speaking at the launch of the report AG Githu Muigai has pledged that his office would support the creation of a framework that plans to effectively tackle gender based violence.
National Center for Research and Crime principal researcher Stephen Muteti has noted that Mombasa county is leading followed by Machakos county and Kisii county.
He also noted that rape cases are rampant at Kilifi, Machakos and Mombasa counties.
