Politics took centre stage in Subukia on Friday during the burial of Ibrahim Kinyanjui, a brother to Subukia MP Kinuthia Gachobe as fourteen politicians allied to the Jubilee coalition told off Chief Justice David Maraga over his remarks against Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.
The MPs said the CS was right in speaking his mind given the haphazard manner in which court orders were being issued to specific civil society activists and Nasa affiliated lawyers.
According to the legislators, there was need for judicial officers to keep in mind the security of the nation while issuing some orders.
The leaders said it was unfortunate that some of the security challenges facing the nation at the moment are as a result of loopholes that occurred due to mistakes done by previous holders of the immigration docket.
Legislator Moses Kuria said it was even more dangerous when such orders are issued ex parte.
Nakuru senator Susan Kihika and Woman Rep Liz Chelule said there ought to be strict adherence to the immigration laws.
The two said that world over; there is no place where one can gain entry into a foreign country using a national identification card.
On the recent collaboration between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga, the politicians welcomed the move but warned that it was too early to believe the opposition leader given his past political record of party hopping despite forming formidable mergers.
The MPs said that the writing is on the wall that Deputy President William Ruto will be Jubilee’s presidential flag bearer in 2022.
Nakuru leaders present told off those claiming that Ruto will not get votes from the Mount Kenya region adding that people from the region have a debt to pay to the Deputy President.
The late Kinyanjui who was a renowned businessman in Nakuru town died of cancer and is survived by wife and three children.
