Subukia Ward MCA, Njoroge Mwanjo, has criticized the work of the contractor working on Nyahururu-Nakuru road terming it as shoddy and sub-standard.
Mwanjo has said that the road is currently impassable despite the contractor taking too long to complete the work.
Speaking to Journalists today in Subukia, Mwanjo said that the contractor has only repaired the potholes which are back to the state they were in following the ongoing heavy rains in the area.
"He was given that road two years ago and now I would like Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) to intervene. From here in Subukia Centre all the way to Kabazi Bridge, the road is extremely bad,” said Mwanjo.
The MCA has observed that tomato farmers from Subukia and Kabazi are the worst affected as the cost of transport has doubled due to the bad road.
"This is tomato harvesting season in Subukia and farmers are counting big losses. Tomato trucks cannot move from Subukia to Nakuru Town before they break down and all the repair costs are being passed over to the farmers,” said Mwanjo.
