A video circulated in local social media channels showed Hon Gaichuhie engaged in a bitter trade of words with Mr S.N Muigai, a businessman and political strategist with roots in Kiambu County who is also eyeing the Subukia parliamentary seat.

Witnesses said Mr Muigai was having lunch in the company of Bahati MP Onesmus Kimani Ngunjiri after attending the funeral service of a Subukia cleric when the Subukia MP approached their table.

Gaichuhie allegedly demanded to know why his Bahati counterpart had ventured into his turf without informing him, more so in the company of an aspirant whom he termed an outsider.

Angered by the intrusion, Muigai told Gaichuhie off, saying the MP could not dictate who should tour the region. He further accused the Subukia leader of failed leadership and vowed to wrest the position from him in the 2017 elections.

Muigai, a flamboyant businessman with interests in real estate, has thrown his weight into the Subukia parliamentary race.

He has in the past accused the incumbent of laxity in implementing development programs in the area. The early afternoon incident attracted a crowd of onlookers to the Subukia Village Villas where it occurred.

It took Hon Ngunjiri's intervention to end the spat.
