Residents of Waseges in Subukia have called on Kenya Power step in and repair or replace a transformer that burst in the area.
They said the transformer burst more than one year ago and has not been fixed.
“This is one of the most remote places in Nakuru County. The fact that there are no many people connected to the power grid might be the reason the transformer has not been replaced,” said a local teacher.
The teacher says he has on several occasions personally reported the issue to KPLC but no one from the office has even come to see the transformer.
“We are now crying out to our elected leaders to come to our aid. We have those that had already been connected and others willing to be connected but we seem to have totally been neglected,” the teacher added.
The transformer that stands at Mibarak primary school used to serve the whole area and its faulty state left the village in darkness.
The residents are also living in fears after it emerged that one of the Kenya Power poles passing through the area is falling, leaving wires to hang loosely.
Out attempts to reach Kenya Power Nakuru office were fruitless as calls went unanswered.
