Kiambu sub-county children’s office has directed a mother to sue her husband over child neglect.
The directive by the office comes after the woman’s husband failed to comply with the children’s office summon to avail himself. The husband, despite being given a reminder, failed to show up, compelling the officers to give the complainant a nod to file a case in court against her husband.
Salome Wanjiku, mother to a two-and-half year old boy, earlier complained that her husband had failed to take parental responsibility for his son.
The husband is accused of dumping his son at his wife’s sister’s home when the wife was sick.
After recovering from her illness, Wanjiku reported the issue at Kiambu children’s office whose intervention seems to have been futile since the accused, despite his promise to show up, has never made it.
The accused, who allegedly lives in Kilifi, is accused of ignoring the wife’s request to come home or report to Kiambu children’s office.
Kiambu sub-county children officer, Racheal Wambui, instructed the complainant to file the case against her husband for absconding his fatherhood responsibilities.
