According to the County boss, the proposed factory will contribute to socio-economic growth within the county.

"It will also be a source of employment because several people will have jobs. It will also be a ready market for farmers who grow sugarcane," said governor Ongwae.

The governor accused a section of leaders of opposing the project saying that they were enemies of development.

"My opponents have been saying that the putting up of the factory will lead to environmental pollution but I want to assure the residents that we shall ensure waste is properly disposed of," he said.

The county boss asked farmers in the county to venture into sugarcane farming.

"I ask many locals to venture into sugarcane farming so that once the factory starts running it will not run short of the crop," he said.

According to him, it will be expensive to buy sugarcane from other counties.
