The cane farmers drawn from various out grower companies from Western, Nyanza and Rift Valley are accusing their chairman of abandoning KESGA and joining another federation.

KESGA Secretary General Richard Ogendo said the chairman and other executive members have abdicated their duties at KESGA without the laid down procedures.

He said the farmers representatives who will be present in the AGM have vowed to change them and elect new officials who are willing to push the agenda of KESGA forward.

“Framer are not happy with the services rendered by the said officials and now they want them out and elect new officials who will take KESGA to greater heights,” he said.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Friday, Ogendo said their Chairman Ibrahim Juma has moved to the Kenya National Federation of Sugarcane Farmers which was formed by the government without proper consultation of the farmers.

He said the Federation was formed to water down the work of KESGA which has for all these years stood its ground on the welfare of farmers in the sugar growing areas.

Ogendo said most cane farmers are against joining of the Federation adding that KESGA will not be part of it.

Other outgrower companies in KESGA are Mumias Outgrowers Company, Busia Outgrowers Company, Nzoia Outgrowers Company, Muhoroni Outgrowers Company, Sony Outgrowers Company and Chemelil Outgrowers Company.

Others are Miwani Outgrowers company, Butali Outgrowers company, West Kenya out growers company, and Nandi escapartment outgrowers company.
