Presidential candidate Solomon Gichira called for the arrest of IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati for contempt of court.

Gichira was charged with attempted suicide after he allegedly tried to jump off Anniversary Towers when IEBC rejected his nomination papers. early this month.

He was released on a Sh200,000 cash bail.

He later moved to court where he was allowed to submit signatures of those who nominated him.

Gichira argued that he presented his nomination papers on June 19 to the IEBC officials who acknowledged that all but one of his documents was okay.

He said that the decision taken by IEBC was done hastily and without any regard to the rules of natural justice.

“IEBC is the sole custodian of the voter register that its officers purportedly used to verify my supporters and having already been found as having treated me unfairly, it is absolutely imperative that is decision be verified through a production of the submitted signatures and the voter register to determine the accuracy of IEBC decision ” Gichira said.
