The angry residents who were on demonstration accused their chief Wilson Sigilai together with area Police Administration of colluding with brewers. hence thwarting fight against illicit brew.

 Pastor Nicholas Bett who joined the demonstrators said area authority has failed to stop illicit brewers.  

 “We have been threatened and intimidated by police and chief against demonstrating over the increasing sale of illicit brew but we have decided to tackle it ourselves.” Pastor Bett said.

He pointed that, over five people have died in the last few months with a recent case being that one of a 22 year old girl who was stabbed at a chang’aa den.

He called for immediate transfer of all police officers from the location and immediate sacking of the chief who he claimed has failed them.

Residents fears were confirmed when a member of Nyumba Kumi initiative from the area joined them in the demonstration and pointed that the chief was behind campaign to thwart war on illicit brew.

Josiah Koech said that, he has been pressuring the chief to start the Nyumba Kumi Initiative and fight illicit brew but has been reluctant for no apparent reason.

“I have decided to speak our frustrations to members of the initiative because the chief is not willing to stop the trend; I have joined residents because I can understand their frustration,” said Koech.

Area Chief refuted allegations and accused some residents of maligning his name citing that war on illicit brew was on course.
