According to one of the business man in the town Cosmas Mochere, the land was set aside by the former town council of Suneka for the market expansion. However, they now see it being fenced by a private developer who they suspect to have plans to build on it.

“All we know the land belongs to the county government and it was set aside for the purpose of expanding the market. We want the county government officials to let us know why the place is being fenced!” said Mochere.

The business community physically removed the fence off the land and demanded quick action by the county government to solve the matter that they said was bringing business is on a standstill.

According to Danie Ongotie the area OCPD who arrived on the scene, they have calmed down the situation and he would make sure that the appropriate action was taken by the county government.

This comes barely after the kisii county government’s new Physical Development Plan’s implementation kicked-off, which made a stir with owners of properties on allegedly grabbed land.
