Suneka residents in Bonchari constituency have appealed to the county commissioner to ensure increased police patrols in Suneka and its environs to curb crime.

Speaking on Thursday at Suneka market, a day after they held demonstrations to the office of the county commissioner on Wednesday, the residents said there is need to eliminate criminal gangs terrorising the residents in the area.

Lead by the area Members of County Assembly Philip Motonu and Aramba Moindi, they said that it is important that those orchestrating criminal activities are brought to book so that peace can prevail in the region.

“We can not allow such groups to terrorise residents of Suneka under the name of providing security,” said Mr Motonu.

The residents claimed that their business activities have been interfered with, forcing them to seize operating at 7pm, something they say will hinder economic growth in the region.

“We are requesting to have intensive police patrols to curb crime and arrest the criminals who have turned hostile to the community,” said Mr Moindi.
