Suneka sub-county residents have been urged to take due precautions as cholera cases have been reported in the area.
According to Kisii Level Five Hospital Clinical Officer Isiah Monene, they received more than five patients from Suneka Riana Village over the weekend, and they are receiving medication with only one passing on while receiving medication.
“We are urging all the residents from the area to be cautious and report any case or incident with with such symptoms since cholera is a dangerous disease and spreads so easily, let them avoid dirty water and also avoid eating road side foods,” said Monene.
He also added that more medical officers have been sent to the area to make sure that the environment is clean and carry out thorough inspections
This comes barely days after the county government of Kisii banned food hawking in the county, and also sent officials to the ground to ensure that the environment is clean.
The disease is believed to have originated from the neighboring Migori County, where more than 80 patients were diagnosed with cholera and more of them lost lives in hospitals and homes alike.
