Business people in Suneka market Kisii County have decried persistent power blackouts that have negatively affected their businesses since the area started to receive rains for the last two weeks.
The traders mostly welders, Kinyozi operators on Wednesday said business has not been doing well in the last two weeks due to power hitches.
“We are forced to close business because we depend on electricity. We now demand for an explanation from the electricity provider," Mr Thaddeus Mogendi a local said.
Robert Maeba, a Kinyozi operator said despite him receiving increased number of customers late in the evening, electricity has been frustrating him.
“I receive over 30 customers late in the evening but I have not been able to serve them due to electricity blackouts. Now that we have approached rainy season, KPLC should upgrade their lines to ensure there is power throughout for the sake of our businesses,” he said.
