Kisii county commissioner Chege Mwangi has warned groups calling themselves community policing but were never was chosen by the community to cease their operations immediately.
According to the commissioner the only group which is recognised by his office is the one which was chosen by the residents in their respective locations.
He therefore, warned the groups which are using the name of the community policing in causing chaos.
“The only group which is recognised is the one that was chosen by the residents from their respective locations," said Mwangi.
"There are some groups which we are emerging by the name ‘Sungusungu’ whom we don’t know, my caution is that those people are not known and once they are found they will face the law,” he added.
In addition, he said that the community policing people have not been mandated to have an office hence he dismissed some of the groups that have an office in Gusii stadium who call themselves community policing.
“We don’t have an office for community policing, if your are a community policing member you need to stay at your home and do your work until an issues arises whereby your attention will be required,” said Mwangi
