Sunrise teachers' training college in Athi River town, Machakos county will on Friday 18, November 2016 hold their annual talents gala.
The show that will start at 9am will run the whole day. Categories to be showcased include contemporary and traditional dances, singing, poetry, drama, spoken word and rapping.
The event seeks to discover and promote talents among students. Sunrise teachers' college has a large population of students pursuing different courses in the fields of education, hairdressing and engineering.
The talents gala is an annual event that is organized by the college. As the day is drawing nearer and nearer, preparations are in top gear to ensure everything is in order. Speaking to this writer at the college, the college entertainment senator Lazio expressed confidence that the talents gala will live up to its expectation.
''We have already made arrangements for sound and props and we hope by Wednesday next week we shall be through with preparations,'' he said.
''We are inviting all students and the residents of Mavoko to come in large numbers to make the event lively. Students of Sunrise college will be allowed in for free but outsiders will be required to present an unscratched Bamba 50 to enter the arena,'' he added.
He also said they are expecting important guests to grace the event. This is coming at a time Machakos governor Alfred Mutua waived film-shooting charges in Machakos county in a bid to promote art and draw in many artists to shoot their videos in the county.
He said that when he launched ''Macha Fest'', an artistic event that aims to promote and reward talents in Machakos county.
