Leaders from Garissa have continued to preach peace ahead of the August general elections.
The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims in collaboration with NGO Niwetu organized a Garissa football tournament in which they preached peace, Star has reported.
The tournament brought together 20 teams to promote tolerance. The final match was played between Gargar FC and More town in which the latter won 2-1.
According to Supkem, the tournament was meant to promote peace among the residents as the nation looks forward to the polls on August 8th.
During the tournament, residents were educated on the importance of taking part in the electoral process.
Supkem programmes officer Ali Aden on Tuesday reminded that youth to be wary of politicians who are likely to use to them for their selfish gains.
Garissa deputy county commissioner Hiddi Galgalo, who was the chief guest at the final match, called upon the residents to preach peace before, during and after the August general elections.
He also dismissed the recent report that Garissa is among hotspots of possible violence as we head to the August general elections. Different leaders have been asking residents to ensure peace prevails before the polls.
