Garissa SUKEM Secretary General Abdullahi Salat has urged the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to take stern action against politicians spewing inflammatory talk.

Salat says that the level of intolerance and ‘ill’ talk among some politicians across he divide is alarming.

Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town on Thursday, the SUPKEM official said that the country will burn if hate-mongers are allowed to walk scot-free.

He said that NCIC has to wake up and crack the whip on inciters and safeguard the peace and unity of Kenya’s.

“The level of hate talk especially on social media is alarming and NCIC and other state agencies have to intervene,” he said as quoted by the Daily Nation.

The official said that politicians have not learnt from the effects of the 2007/2008 post poll clashes that hit the country leading to deaths, destruction of property and displacement of communities.

Salat asked Kenyans to remain united and shun rogue politicians.

He also asked Kenyans to pray for peaceful repeat presidential election for October 17.

This comes as pressure is mounting on Inspector general of police Joseph Boinnet to arrest Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria over alleged ethnic remarks he is allegedly said to have made recently.

A section of opposition politicians want the MP arrested and arraigned in court.

Jubilee party has distanced itself from Kuria’s alleged inflammatory remarks.
