Supkem chairperson, Abdullahi Salat has urged the Kenyan government to handle the Somalia refugees with dignity.
Salat noted that they had fled their country due to war and insecurity.
Speaking in Garissa town, the Supkem chair stated that as religious leaders, their mandate was to ensure that people are equally treated with dignity and fairness.
"The government authorities should treat these Somalia refugees with dignity. They are human beings just like Kenyans or other citizens from other nations," he stated.
Salat also urged the repatriation committee to fully involve residents and consult with them in the repatriation of the over 300,000 Somali citizens from the Dadaab camps noting that such a move would ensure the exercise gets to move smoothly.
The Kenyan government effected the repatriation process on 1st July, with the process expected to last for six months.
