Garissa SUPKEM Secretary General Abdullahi Salat has appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga to speak out and end the post poll protests allegedly being reported in some parts of the country.

Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town on Saturday, Salat said that Uhuru and Raila's silence on the alleged protests in some parts of Nairobi, Kisumu, Siaya and Migori is not helping.

He said that Uhuru and Raila have to speak out and call for calm among Kenyans. He said that the tension and anxiety will continue to build if the president and the opposition leader continue to keep quite.

''I am urging the president and the opposition leaders to shelve their election differences and unite the country,'' he said as quoted by the Daily Nation.

Salat said that Kebyans are peace loving people and that an adrress from their leaders will cool off political tension that has been experienced following the announcement of presidential results on Friday night.

There have been reports of protests in some parts of Nairobi, Kisumu and Siaya following the announcement of president Kenyatta as the winner of the August 8 general election.

Media reports also allege several cases of death in the protests though police have denied casualties in the demonstrations.

On Saturday, acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i said that no death has been reported.

He also defended the police against claims of using live bullets on protestors.

NASA has disputed the presidential results alleging rigging.
