Turbo Member of Parliament Janet Rotich has asked Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to drop his 2022 presidential ambitions and instead support Deputy President William Ruto.
Rotich says DP Ruto has higher chances of clinching the presidency compared to that of Senator Moi.
Addressing the press in Eldoret town on Saturday, the first-time MP reaffirmed the Rift Valley region's commitment to supporting the DP in his bid to be the county’s fifth President.
“It is not nice to be fighting yet we are brothers. If only he (Senator Moi) can support his brother, the Deputy President, for the presidency in 2022, then the next time he will be able to get the opportunity to get it,” said the Jubilee allied MP.
She said they are supporting Ruto not because he is the Deputy President but because of the ability he has shown to lead the country.
“Already the DP has proven that he can actually lead this country and we are standing with him because he has what it takes to become President in 2022,” noted the MP.
He spoke after holding a meeting with a group of elders from her constituency who reaffirmed their support for DP Ruto.
“We already made a decision that in 2022 we will rally behind Ruto, that is the decision of all the elders in this area,” said one of the elders.
DP Ruto seen as a front-runner to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta is battling with the Baringo Senator over the control of the vote-rich Rift Valley region.
