Kesses Member of Parliament Dr. Swarup Mishra has urged opposition leader Raila Odinga to support Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
Speaking in Eldoret on Sunday, Mishra said DP Ruto supported Raila in 2007 and 2022 will be the perfect time for the former Prime Minister to pay back.
The first-time MP noted that with Raila's support, Ruto will be almost assured of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“I want to call upon my friend Raila in the spirit of the handshake to support DP Ruto since we know he has been a kingmaker in the past and he can make Ruto the president,” said Mishra.
The Jubilee MP said the opposition chief had on several occasion vied for the county's top seat but all has been in vain noting that it was time he supported another candidate.
He, however, cautioned politicians against speculating that the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga would affect the 2022 succession politics.
"The 2022 plan is still on and nobody should not be worried about it. Let the two leaders unite the country,” noted Mishra who asked politicians to also help in enhancing peace and cohesion across the country by avoiding utterances that might cause divisions among Kenyans.
