The MP said the move will ensure residents secure top jobs at the Port of Mombasa.

Speaking on Monday in Kambe, Kilifi County, the MP said by working with the government, the Coast region will benefit from jobs and development projects, giving an example of the construction of the Mariakani-Mavueni and Bamba-Mavueni roads.

He further promised the residents that the government would employ 100 youth from Rabai Constituency to the National Youth Service.

“We must ensure academic giants from our region get important posts in Kenya. The port is not the end, we must have a succession plan,” said Mung’aro.

The MP rubbished claims that he was leading residents astray by urging them to join Jubilee, saying the Coast region is not meant to remain in the opposition forever.

Mung'aro also declared interest in vying for the Kilifi governor seat, saying his experience in leadership will make him a better governor than the incumbent, Amason Kingi.

On Sunday, the MP lashed out at Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, saying the county does not rule the entire Coast region.

“Let people know the era when people think Mombasa is what rules the Coast is over,” said Munga'ro, as quoted by The Star.
