With just four months remaining to the August poll, Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu has hit the ground running pitching for his re-election.

Speaking at Mwatate Chief's Camp on Friday, Mruttu who is using development as a springboard to outsmart his fiercest rival, Senator Dan Mwazo, said his tenure in office has been a success and asked residents to gift him a second term to complete the development initiatives he has started.According to Mruttu who is also the Council of Governors Deputy Chairman, the county has revamped education, health, road, mining and agricultural sectors in the last four years.Dismissing his critics who have always questioned his development record, the ODM point man in the county accused them of being insincere by not acknowledging what has been done. With Mwazo, former political friend-turned-enemy, staging a mutiny against him, Mruttu knows that his re-election will not be a walk in the park even as he drafts strategies to defeat the Senator who has since decamped to Jubilee.
