Kabete lawmaker Ferdinand Waititu has urged Kiambu residents to support his ambition to vie for the county’s gubernatorial seat come 2017.

Addressing residents at Kabete Shopping Centre on Tuesday, Waititu said he has the qualities to vie for the seat adding that the people’s support is what he needs.

The MP added that he will not be intimidated by people he said are afraid of his presence in the county’s politics.

Waititu said that he is working on proper strategies that will see him clinch the Kiambu gubernatorial seat come 2017.

“I am not going to be intimidated by some people who think that I have no constitutional right to vie for any elective position in this county,” said the vocal Kabete lawmaker.

The MP said that he will be counting on the locals support adding that Kiambu people are desiring for a change.

On Sunday during a fundraiser at the Holy Catholic Church in Githunguri, Waititu said that he is not afraid to challenge Governor William Kabogo come 2017.

The MP who shared the podium with Kabogo said that Kiambu people will decide on who to elect adding that he is keen to transform the county if elected governor in 2017.

Kabogo who spoke at the fundraiser avoided the political issues saying that his government is keen to actualise development in the remaining two years.

The governor also called for tolerance and humility among all elected and nominated leaders in the county.

There has been political tension between Waititu and Kabogo ever since Waititu vied and clinched the Kabete parliamentary seat.

Kabogo has on several occasions rubbished Waititu’s ambition to vie for the gubernatorial seat saying that he has no qualities.

Waititu maintains that he will vie for the seat in the 2017 general election.
