Speaking at a Thika hotel during a security forum on Saturday, Chairman Jomo said that security matters must be supported by locals if a positive change is to be realised.

He observed that police officers rely mostly on information from the public to deal with crime elements.

“The public should not fear us but rather work with us in our quest to boost security,” said Jomo.

He also noted that Kiambu County government has initiated various security measures meant to assure safety to locals.

Jomo added that they will continue to work with other agencies to ensure that locals and their property are safe.

Jomo however lauded the residents for embracing Nyumba Kumi Initiative. He said that since the introduction of the Initiative, crime cases have gone down.

Meanwhile, Jomo has asked youths in the area to shun criminal activities and be ambassadors of peace.

He said that they are counting on youths to spearhead security and peace campaigns in Thika town as one way of eradicating criminal activities in the region.

Jomo urged the youth to use their free time wisely and support activities that are geared towards development.
