Meru Governor Peter Munya Murang'a County residents to support the Party of National Unity (PNU) in the next general elections.
Speaking on Thursday in Mukuyu Market where he presided over the opening of the party's branch offices, the governor, who also PNU's Party Leader argued that the party provides alternative leadership especially in Central Kenya.
"The region which has millions of voters has never entertained the single- party philosophy and looks at PNU as a liberating outfit," he noted.
"It is not a crime for PNU to operate here," he added.
Munya, who was elected on the Alliance Party of Kenya (APK) ticket which was initially led by Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi before merging with the newly formed Jubilee Party is set to seek his Meru governorship re-election on a PNU ticket.
He has also vowed that the party will be supporting the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta in the next polls.
