Yatta residents have been asked to support the police in their quest to reduce crime.

Area MP Francis Mwangangi addressed the public at Yatta trading center on Wednesday, appealing to them to work with the police.

He said that the locals’ support of law enforcers will go long way to address instances of crime that is on the rise.  

“My polite request is to Yatta residents to support security initiatives being formulated by the county and the national government,” he said.

The MP noted that provision of security is a responsibility of every citizen and that it should not be left to the police alone.

The lawmaker however lauded the county and the national government saying it has managed to tame crime to a large per cent.

He said that presence of security will attract more investors and boost socio-economic development. Mwangangi urged leaders to continue working together and help address security scares that might be experienced.

The lawmaker took the opportunity to wish locals happy Easter holidays, urging them to upheld peace.
