Kangundo MP Fabian Kyule Muli has called on the residents to play an active role in fighting crime in the area.

Muli noted the insecurity in the sub-county was escalating, asking locals to cooperate with law enforcers in the fight against crime, especially this festive season.

"Crime rate can drop drastically if you cooperate with police officers by giving them information on criminals. Do not hesitate to name the bad elements amongst you because if they do not terrorize you today, they will do so tomorrow," the MP told residents of Katwii trading centre on Tuesday.

Muli asked the security officers in the area to include the community in their security meetings to make war on crime more effective.

"Let us embrace the spirit of Nyumba Kumi and be our brothers and sisters keeper so that we can make our villages more secure," he urged.

At the same time, the MP urged boda-boda operators to be watchful while on roads to avoid causing accidents.
