The elders say that if this does not happen, they will not support Jubilee come 2017.

The elders, who met on Wednesday for a closed-door meeting at Wamalwa's house in Nairobi, unanimously said that Wamalwa should be the next Nairobi’s governor and urged Uhuru and Ruto to endorse him.

“Through supporting Wamalwa as the next governor of the big city in Kenya, it will be very easy for us as elders to sell the Jubilee manifesto in Western. So we urge Uhuru and Ruto to support him or else forget Western votes,” said Patrick Wanga, chairman of Luhya Council of Elders.

The elders said that they are ready to support Jubilee government if their wishes are addressed by the top leadership.

Present in the meeting were 65 MCAs from Western who assured Wamalwa that they would back him in the contest of Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the next 2017 polls.
