Independent Presidential candidate for the forthcoming August general elections Japheth Kavinga Kaluyu has appealed for Kenyans' support as the polls near.
Speaking during the Presidential Debate held at the Catholic University of East Africa Monday,Kaluyu who is a newbie in the Kenyan political arena said that it is time Kenyans stopped rallying behind leaders who have been in the scene for eternity and go for fresh minds which are offering a new kind of leadership.
He took issue with the opinion poll firms which had earlier said that the poll will be a 2-horse race saying that he not being among the two who are NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga and Jubilee's President Uhuru Kenyatta,is satisfied with being called a donkey as that puts him in the same category as Kenyans.
''We are now being classified as the donkeys in the race and i have also seen one of the horses saying 'Punda amechoka' in his campaigns and the donkey in this context is Kenyans. Then I am in the same category as the people and want to urge them to support their fellow donkey as he is more familiar with their problems than the horses,'' said Kaluyu.
Kaluyu whose running mate is Eliud Kariara however said that he will concede defeat should his bid fail to sail through saying that he has always led from behind the scenes and will still do it even if not given the opportunity to hold the nation's most powerful position.
''I have always led and helped my people as a civilian and will keep that up even if I lose on August,'' he said.
