The Kilifi Woman Representative race is set to be a tough battle after two Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidates declared interest in the seat.

Both Kibarani MCA Getrude Mwanyanje and Juliet Riziki have continued to express confidence in clinching the seat with a huge margin come August. The incumbent, Kilifi Women Rep Aisha Jumwa, who has joined the Malindi parliamentary race, endorsed Mwanyanje, while Governor Amason Kingi is rallying support for Riziki. The battle of supremacy between Riziki and Mwanyanje is not likely to end any time soon.During the county’s celebrations to mark the International Women’s Day, Mwanyanje launched a scathing attack at Riziki accusing her of mudslinging her in public gatherings instead of outlining what she intends to do for the people if elected. She also asked her to tell her supporters not to go round the county claiming that she has already been given the ODM ticket ahead of the August elections. Mwanyanje further told Riziki to quit boasting simply because she has the support of Governor Kingi, adding that she will be in for a rude shock.
