The Supreme Court. [Photo|judiciary.go.ke]Chief Justice David Maraga has issued a directive ordering all the eight presidential candidates in the fresh presidential election to file a response to a petition seeking to nullify the just concluded election.Maraga’s deputy registrar asked the candidates including NASA leader Raila Odinga who withdrew his candidature, to file a response to the petition filed by Activist Okiya Omtatah.Omtatah enjoined the eight candidates in the case as interested parties."The applicant should serve their applicants with written submissions by 5 pm on Thursday 2nd November. The respondents should file a rejoinder to the respondents written submissions by 5 pm on Tuesday 7th November," directed the Supreme Court. In the petition, Omtatah argued that Odinga's withdrawal from the election on October 10 rendered the fresh election and that attempts to announce the winner, would violate the constitution. The case will be mentioned November 10.
