During the live interview aired by the local TV stations, the Supreme Court man promised that he would ensure he engages the public and makes judicial operations transparent.

He however accused the former CJ Willy Mutunga of being too consultative on issues that wanted prompt decision-making, something that slowed down the judicial processes.

He promised to make quick decisions if need be and try to reduce consultations that may delay judgement.

Judge Wanjala seized the chance to assure the panelists of his readiness to respect the mandate of all judicial offices should he be approved for the job.

The positions of former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, his Deputy Kalpana Rawal and their Supreme Court colleague Philip Tunoi were officially declared vacant, paving way for their replacement.

The vacancies were announced in the Kenya Gazette and the notices cleared the way for the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to fill them.
