Musila said chances of the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader being reinstated are high.

According to the former Wiper senator, the Court of Appeal's reasons that nullified Mutua's election were not convincing.

"Mutua will be reinstated as Machakos governor by the Supreme Court and even if he is not reinstated he will still win in the by-election," Musila said.

He addressed the press in Kitui town on Saturday.

Musila said Mutua is popular and will easily win in case of a by-election.

He said the Machakos governor has numbers compared to his fierce political rival, former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti.

Musila said Mutua has established himself as the people's leader and he is destined for great leadership positions.

The former Wiper senator, however, called for calm in Machakos County as Mutua's appeal takes off at the Supreme Court.

The appellant court nullified Mutua's election three weeks ago on grounds that it was not free and fair.

The court ordered IEBC to conduct a fresh gubernatorial election.
