Abdirashid Adan, who protected Christians during the Mandera bus attack was surprised without belief.
Organisers of the biggest concert to be witnessed in Africa named It's Big gave Adan a donation of Sh50,000.
Initiated by Genge musician Nonini, the money was a quick contribution channeled to a charitable basketball tournament dubbed Entertainment with Fun for Charity (EFC)
The launch party will be held at the Nyayo Stadium on July, 2015, and this is one of the good deeds of the initiative did before the launch
"It was encouraging to see how fast It's Big campaign responded to our call for assistance, we told them about our efforts only in the morning and they already have a cheque ready. Their donation will go towards Abdi’s daily medical needs and his upkeep during his illness," CEO at TV Cosmopolitan (TVC), Morris Okoth, said while receiving the donation.
"Together with EFC & Sportpesa we will support Abdi by enabling Abdi to provide for his family since he was the sole breadwinner selling water to sustain the family," he added.
Abdirashid sustained gunshot wounds in his abdomen, during last year's December attack that left two people dead.
By June 6, Abdirashid had accumulated a hospital bill of over Sh1.5 Million which the government later on clarified that a total waiver had been granted.
The contribution by It's Big is expected to go a long way as Abdirashid's medical expenses have remained owing to the many trips he makes to the hospital.
Meanwhile, It's Big will be holding seven mega concerts in seven different counties, all kicking off at the same time – 11am.
The grand event will take place in the counties of Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa, Nyeri, Nakuru, Meru and Kisii.
