Nairobi governor Mike Sonko is angling towards replacing Polycarp Igathe who resigned as the county's deputy governor in January.
In a statement, Sonko said he had forwarded names of his nominees to the Nairobi county assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi for discussion and vetting.
The photos shared in the post are those of five women including former Nairobi Women Rep Rachel Shebesh with whom the governor had a working pact in the last Nairobi government.
The following is his statement:
THE INCOMING DEPUTY GOVERNOR
Pursuant to the supreme court advisory opinion I have today forwarded a list of 5 nominees to the speaker of the county assembly Hon. Betrace Elachi for consideration.
I have also directed the Nairobi county assembly to have a special sitting tomorrow through a special gazette notice to be issued later today after 12pm.
The Honourable members of the Nairobi county assembly will vet, debate and finally vote to decide who becomes the 3rd Deputy Governor of Nairobi city county.
Shebesh lost the Women Rep seat to Esther Passaris who had more ground in the county, including a solid base in Kibera over her community development record.
