Moi Sports Centre Kasarani will host this Sunday’s match between Gor Mahia and Hull City.
This comes as a shock as it was only a few days ago that Kenyans shared photos of a tattered pitch that is Kasarani, and no one expected it to be in any playing condition in the near future.
However, reports indicate that the pitch will be ready to not only host some of Harambee Stars’ matches but will be ready to host Gor vs Hull match on Sunday.
According to the officials running the project, they will be done before the match and will give Kenyans the chance to watch their beloved team take on their English opponents.
“We started planting the grass on April 17 until April 27 and from there, it was intense maintenance, levelling the field, top dressing it with sand and adding imported fertiliser to the grass so that the roots can grow faster,” said the Project Director at Gregori International as quoted by Sportpesa.
“We chose this grass (Kikuyu grass) because it is grown in Kenya and it is good for the weather in the country. We did a lot of tests and settled on this variety. After this game, we shall come and plant Suzuina and regular varieties to ensure the pitch lasts for long,” the Director explained.
The tie will be an exhibition match between the two sides sponsored by Sportpesa.
