Few Kenyans have managed to put the country on the Guinness Book of World records with their surprising acts.

The most recent people to put Kenyan in this memorable book are the H_Art the Band, who released the longest song in April this year. The song took 4 hours 04 minutes and 02 seconds.

In 2011, 19352 participants washed their hands in an event breaking the record of the highest number of people washing their hands. In the same year, Ms Kate Kibugi of Sarakasi Trust broke the Limbo world record by successfully passing under a 20cm balanced bar.

Hillary Kimaiyo recorded the fastest 10 km race in 2007.

Samuel Wanjiru recorded the fastest half marathon in 2007.

Kenyan relay team of Ismael Kombich, William Yampoy, Wilfred Bungei and Joseph Mutua recorded the fastest time in 2006.

Paul Kosgei recorded the fastest time in 25 km run in 2004.

Kimani Ng’ang’a Murage, 84 in 2004 became the oldest person on earth to join primary school in standard one.

Tegla Lorupe holds three records. He holds records for the best time in 20, 000 metres, 25,000 metres and 30, 000 metres in 2000, 2002 and 2003 respectively. 

Paul Tergat holds the records of the fastest marathon in 2003 at 2hrs 04 min 55 seconds. 

Daniel Komen recorded the fastest time in 3,000 metre race in 1998.

In 1992, Joseph Love from Kilifi set a record of a person who milked high amount of milk by hand. He milked 30 cows and produced 531 litres of milk in 24 hours. 

Lopiding Hospital in Lokichogio became the largest present-day war hospital in 1987.

Andy Roberts, John Franshawe and Terry Stevenson broke the record of the number of birds of same species counted (342 birds) in 24 hours in 1986.
