Investors have been challenged to survey land before developing it to avoid demolition.
Speaking at Huduma Centre in Kisumu after receiving a list of properties set for demolition, the county’s deputy governor Ruth Odinga told investors not to set up structures on land before conducting a proper survey.
She emphasised that a great number of locals bought their land without scrutinising it at the lands department as she called for proper survey on various land bought.
“In order not to waste resources and avoid demolition, I am asking investors to survey their land and its demarcation,” said Odinga.
She further petitioned the lands department to help harmonise land registration by issuing title deeds and coming up with proper mapping in order to minimize losses.
Lands officer George Amolo also called for proper land survey before investment noting that a great number of locals invest in land without properly conducting survey.
“We need to invest wisely by making sure we never invested in wrong lands hence demolitions,” said Amolo.
