The Nairobi gubernatorial race seems to be a two-horse race between the incumbent Evans Kidero and Senator Mike Sonko.
This is according to a survey carried out by the Radio Africa Group.
The survey conducted between August 2 and 3 shows that Sonko leads with 31% followed closely by Kidero with 26%.
TNA chairman and nominated MP, Johnson Sakaja who is also in the race for Nairobi governor, garnered 10% while Dagoretti West MP, Dennis Waweru was had 5%.
Former Starehe MP, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru scored just 1% in the poll alongside Water Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa and Miguna Miguna who is also in the race.
Due to the late entry, Wamalwa scored poorly alongside Miguna Miguna who is contesting on an independent ticket.
Sonko enjoys more popularity in Starehe constituency where he commands 64% support with overwhelming support in Kamukunji, Makadara, and Embakasi Central.
Kidero, on the other hand, has a huge number of supporters in Kibera and in Dagorreti North which are termed as ODM's turfs.
However, the poll says it would be very hard for Sonko or Kidero to pull a win if they are not endorsed by their respective political parties.
Both the Jubilee government and the opposition have of late engaged in extensive campaigns with the ruling coalition saying it must do all it takes to unseat Kidero of the Cord coalition.
The majority of Nairobians see Sonko and Kidero as the only serious contenders who only have massive supporters in Nairobi.
Waweru who is a first time MP is said to command very minimal support in Nairobi.
