It was sorrow and grief at Gusii Stadium in Kisii County on Monday afternoon, when the bodies of the Garissa University terrorist attack arrived for the interdenominational prayer service.

Survivors of the attack, which left 148 students breathless, narrated on how they escaped the deadly attack, and asked the government to provide them with counseling services to enable them, recover from the horrible incident.

Wilson Bichang'a, who is a lecturer at Garissa University, said he received the news of the attack while he preparing to attend a morning lectures.

“I was to meet my students for a lecture at 7am before I was called and told not to leave the house because terrorists had stormed into University premises. I tried to call my class representative, who is now deceased, but he did not pick my call. I ask the government to counsel us in order to revert,” appealed Bichang'a.

Elias Magangi, a student at the university said he escaped death by jumping out of the University with his colleagues and ran to a nearby police station.

“I with my colleagues ran to a nearby police station after we heard of the terrorists,” he briefed.

The payer service was presided over by Kisii Parish Vicar General Father Jeremiah Nyakundi, and Kisii County Governor James Ongwae among other leaders from Kisii County.
