A suspected con woman was arraigned and charged in a Nakuru court with two counts of forgery and defraud on Monday afternoon.

The accused, Lena Muhonja, 42, on the first count is accused of obtaining Sh480,130 from Mary Akinyi by pretending to be in a position to secure her a job as a secretary at the Nakuru County Government offices.

The court heard that on January 20, in Nakuru County, the accused obtained the money from Mary Akinyi through her bank account by falsely pretending to be in a position to secure her a job.

The accused who was before Chief Magistrate David Kemei, is further accused of generating a letter of employment with a fake seal from the county government of Nakuru.

Muhonja pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court granted her a bond of Sh500,000 or a cash bail of Sh200,000 awaiting mention of the matter on June 13.
