Police at Baraka Police Post today averted an attempt by vandals from vandalising a Safaricom booster at Baraka in Nakuru County.

Confirming the incident officer in-charge of Baraka Police Post Edward Langat said that the police confronted the vandals who were just about to vandalize Safaricom booster at around 5am.

“Members of public informed us of the intended vandalism at Baraka and our officers responded immediately and recovered a saloon car KBZ and eight car batteries,” said Langat.

Langat thanked community policing and Nyumba Kumi initiatives for their support in addressing criminal activities in the area.

“The community policing and Nyumba Kumi initiatives have played a major role in improving security in Baraka and I urge the public to continue supporting police in fighting the war against crime,” added Langat.

He added that the government is committed to ensure that security is maintained and safeguarding the lives of innocent citizens and their property is given first priority.

“The government's role in safeguarding Kenyans and their property will be enhanced,” said Langat.

Langat however warned youth from engaging in criminal activities and urged them to involve themselves in proper channels of generating income.

Langat confirmed that the guard in-charge of the booster sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he was treated and discharged.
