The two suspects had attempted to steal from an MPESA agent within the sprawling Nyalenda slums.

An eye witness Ben Ochieng said the two had a toy pistol but the agent went ahead and raised an alarm prompting them to flee.

Ochieng said the public chased and corned the two whom they beat senselessly.

“They wanted to withdraw Sh18,000 but did not have an ID, so when the agent lady refused they threatened to shoot her prompting her to raise an alarm,” said witness Ochieng.

He said one suspect was very co-operative and he was forced to set his colleague on fire.

Ochieng said he was later freed but after sustaining serious injuries on the body as a result of the mob beating.

The incident occurred next to where a young girl was killed last year after three men stormed her MPESA kiosk and demanded to be given cash before shooting her.

Nyalenda residents have in the meantime raised concern about insecurity in the area and appealed to the area police to intensive day and night patrols to arrest all criminals, whom the say terrorise them.
